Ficus carica. A deciduous tree or climber forming a spreading head of large-lobed leaves which are heart-shaped at the base. Pear-shaped receptacles develop into single fruit during June and August, green when young maturing to purple or dark-brown. Although fully hardy it prefers a sunny south-facing position. Supplied pot-grown. Height supplied 30-40cm (12-16 inches), will grow to 3m (10 feet) or in a pot to 1.5m (5 feet).
