- WATER LILY
- Aftercare: Grow in undisturbed water in full sun. Plant rhizomes in a firm, loamy soil. Insert the rhizomes just under the surface and cover with washed pea gravel or chippings. Submerge freshly planted containers so that 6-10 inches (15-25cm) of waters covers the young crowns, either by temporarily lowering the water level or by raising the containers on brick plinths.
- WEIGELA
- Flowering time: May to June
- Height: 5-6ft (150-180cm); spread, 5-6ft (150-180cm)
- Aftercare: Will grow well in any fertile soil, but requires an open position with good drainage. Soak the roots for 2-3 hours prior to planting. Spread the roots out carefully and plant firmly. When planting is complete, water well and continue watering for a few days if the weather is dry. Plant 3ft apart. Prune each year immediately after flowering by removing one or two of the old stems.
- WISTERIA
- Flowering time: May
- Aftercare: Requires a moist, rich, medium loam and room for good root growth. A sunny south or west facing wall is preferable. Provide a permanent support and tie early growth to it until established. Pruning should be carried out in February. Cut back all growth to within three buds of the base of the previous year's growth.
