Ponerorchis. Known in their native Japan as Butterfly Wings, the dainty blooms of these miniature orchids are just ¾ inch in size, and float on stems only 25cm (10”) tall. Despite their diminutive stature, the vanilla scented flowers of these delicate orchids put on a spectacular show in summer. Hardy to 0°C, Ponerorchis make a mesmerising display for conservatories and greenhouses. Once established they can even be grown in sheltered borders outdoors.
